Varsity Boys postponed again
The Varsity boys were postponed for the second time this young season as their game with Green Mountain was cancelled as a result of yesterday's weather. Friday's scheduled game with South Royalton also has been moved as a result of a conflict in So. Ro's. schedule. The Boys next game is scheduled for the 22nd at Lake Region.
Lady Raptors get dropped by Lake Region
On Tuesday evening the girls varsity team lost a 48-22 decision to the pre season #1 team in division 3. Trailing by just 5, 19-14, at the half, the Raptors were outscored by 29-8 in the second half. Dsteck lead the scoring for the girls with 11 points and her sister Jstek contributed 5. The Ranger's Abbey LaLine led all scorers with 15 points. The girls travel to Concord on Thursday.
Raptor Boys get edged out by the Olympians
The Raptor Boys Basketball team hosted the Olympians from Oxbow on Monday and lost on a closely contested game 51-49. The action was fierce and furious as both teams had to work hard to put points up on the board. Zach Klunder got himself into early foul trouble which effected the Raptors board game. Will Tifft and Billy Ross paced the scoring for the team. The boys are scheduled to travel to Green Mountain on Wednesday.
Lady Raptors over Stowe
On December 13th the mighty women Raptors flew into the Stowe gymnasium and took a bite out of the Crusaders. The bald eagle, Dstek, tore apart Stowe's 2-3 zone with 11 points in the first quarter, helping RA jump out to an 18-6 lead. Jasmine "the Raven" Harrington lead the second quarter with 5 points and helped push the halftime lead to 36-16. The little "eaglets", freshmen Smiley Brooks, Amber Brooks, and KMac had 1, 6, and 12 points respectively.
Stow'e Julia Scrubbs lead the way for the Crusaders with 27 points. JStek hawked her up and down the court. With the help of the eagle and the raven, she held Scrubbs to 9 of 51 shooting for the game. Defensively, Rivendell will have to im prove as they host a strong Lake Region team on Tuesday.
In other game news, Red Rooster Ameden went down in the 3rd quarter with a knee injury. All of us birds of prey will be eagerly awaiting her return, especially Vulture Carter.

Girls season opener vs. Oxbow
The Girls basketball team opened their season at Oxbow on Friday night and played reasonably well in a 33-25 loss. Deva Steketee paced the way with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Kathleen McCarty finished with 8 points and 4 assists. Oxbow jumped out to an 11-2 lead after one quarter and lead 18-8 at the half. The second half was fairly even with both teams trading hard fought baskets. RA did not succomb to Oxbow's intense full court pressure, but will need to find easier ways in the future to score against aggressive 1/2 court pressure. The Raptors have a week to work it out before travelling to Stowe for a Boys and Girls double header on Saturday the 13th.
