The varsity boys soccer team traveled to South Royalton on Thursday and came home with a
4-1 victory. Both teams played very well in the first half playing scoreless ball until the :37th minute when Tyler Wood broke the ice with a nice shot from the right elbow of the 18 after receiving a pass from Shane Kilduff. Our boys took command of the game early in the second half as Cody Thurston collected his first varsity goal with a header off a pass from Tyler Wood in the :44th minute and Evan Madden buried a shot ( assist to Shane Kilduff) in the :47th minute. Aaron Hibbard closed out the scoring, assisted by Jesse Oakes in the :53rd. The team played a solid balanced game, distributed the ball well, and gave up but a few offensive opportunities to SoRo. Tyler Wood came home with a great deal of satisfaction having played very well on the same field where his season ended last year as a result of a broken leg. Defensively the back four combination of Sam Sanborn, Josh LeBlanc, Marshall Ivey, and Michael Langley teamed up and held SoRo to 9 shots on goal. Mark Frazee was brilliant in the goal when he needed to be. The boys host Twinfield on Saturday at 10:00am.
