Varsity Soccer teams open season on a high note

The Varsity Girls and Boys opened their respective seasons vs Danville on Thursday in fine fashion. On the Girls field, a tightly fought match was decided in the 80th minute as Brooke Maddock took a pass from freshmen Addie Lyndes and deposited the ball in the back of the net. The Lady Raptors played strong defense throughout the course of the game and gave up but one good scoring opportunity to the Indians. Coach Tenney was pleased that the girls established and controlled the tempo of the match. The girls next game is Tuesday when they host Thetford Academy.

On the Boys field, Aaron Hibbard buried a direct kick from thirty yards out to seal a hard fought come from behind 2-1 victory. Giving up an early goal in the fourth minute of play, the boys played determined ball the rest of the way. Andrew Stimson scored in the 64th minute when he took a deflected ball from Jack Steketee and knotted the score at one apiece. Defensively the team shut down the Indians as Dan Gray handled every ball that came his way. It was a terrific season opener. The Boys host Stratton Mtn. on Wenesday.
